Lighting Design
Focused light where you work — kitchen counters, study desks, and vanity areas.
Task lighting puts usable light exactly where you work, and its real purpose is removing the shadow that ceiling lights cannot avoid, since anyone standing at a counter blocks the light arriving from behind them. In kitchens that means under-cabinet profile lights set toward the front edge of the wall unit so light falls on the work surface rather than the backsplash. At a study desk it means a lamp or wall light on the side opposite your writing hand, positioned to avoid screen glare. At a dressing or vanity mirror it means vertical light on both sides rather than a single downlight overhead, which is what gives even, shadow-free light on the face. We specify higher levels than the ambient layer, typically 300 to 500 lux, at a neutral colour temperature for accuracy, and switch task circuits separately so they run only when needed.
